Church Family Night:
Once a month we meet as a church family—usually on the first Wednesday of the month.
When that day coincides with a holiday, we will select an alternative Wednesday
evening. We meet from August through April.
Our meetings are held at the facilities of Hope Haven in Rock Valley (1800 19th St, Rock
Valley, IA 51247). This location is a bit more centrally located for us, and the building
offers the rooms that fit our needs.
Our Church Family Night begins at 6:50 pm and involves our entire church family from
toddlers to the elderly. Thus, we have activities for every age group, being led by group
leaders who guide the study of topics that are both relevant and age-appropriate.
Groups that minister to our children and young people have two or three adult leaders.
These groups are divided as follows:
- Pre-school
- 1st-3rd grade
- 4th-6th grade
- 7th-8th grade
- 9th-12th grade
A few times this past season, the senior and junior high kids participated in a service
project during our Wednesday night meetings. These service activities were arranged by
their group leaders.
While these groups are meeting, the adults meet for a Bible Study.
Following our individual group sessions, everyone meets together for a time of
fellowship and refreshments. As our adults visit, most of our children and young people
will play a variety of games in the gym, such as dodgeball and/or basketball. Frequently
organized games are provided for the younger children as well.
Our monthly Church Family Night is well attended and affords our church family a
wonderful opportunity for meaningful interaction and fellowship.
